Only 24 days after his heavy fall the former tour de-France winner Egan Bernal sits back on the bike. The 25-year-old published a video on Instagram on Wednesday (local time), which shows him on an exercise bike. “Never let someone tell you that you can not do something,” the Colombian wrote. On the device is bernal as on a lying ridge, holding with both hands on handles on the sides of the seat.
On a second video is to see how Bernal also makes first steps out of his house. He still carries a support corset, which protects his heavily affected spine.
Bernal was driving in a standing bus during training in his homeland with the timebike. The Giro winner had moved almost 20 bone breaks, including eleven ribs, two whirls, a thigh and a kneecap. In addition, both lung wings were perforated. Bernal himself had his chance not to be paralyzed to just five percent. As a result of the heavy fall Bernal, his former teammate Chris Froome had stimulated to prohibit road training in the future with specially designed wheels.
