Domestic mobile game users have decreased 2.7 million people over a year.

Big data platform company IG Works has released a report of ‘Mobile App Game Market Analysis’ through its data analysis solution “ Mobile Index ”. The analysis period was from June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022, and analyzed 2 billion data (Android, iOS integrated data) of an average of 40 million mobile devices based on the AI algorithm.


According to the mobile index, the number of domestic mobile app game users decreased by 2.7 million in May 2022 (22,920,215) compared to June 2021 (25,624,654). By category, ‘role-playing games’ users decreased to 25.9%.

Monthly sales of domestic mobile games (based on Google Play, One Store, and Apple App Store) are ‘Odin: Valar Rising’ (released in June 2021) and ‘Lineage W’ (released in November 2021) There was a tendency to increase with the launch. In addition, as of May 2022, the market share of Google Play Transactions by genre was confirmed that ‘role-playing’ accounted for 67.3%.

It is worth noting that the report has a big impact on sales due to the launch of a new role-playing. Most of the recent large RPGs have been supported at the same time. The decrease in the ‘role-playing game’ user to 25.9%is also impossible to ignore it, and it is expected to affect the overall user reduction.

In the May game publisher sales share (based on Google Play, One Store, and Apple App Store), ‘NCSOFT’ was the highest at 18.7%, followed by ‘Nexon’ (13.9%). The number of game apps that entered the top public sales of 100 yuan was ‘Netmarble’ with 12.
